Decipher, the Seoul National University blockchain society, needed three merch items (hoodie, keyring, sticker) for its 'Difference' event. The hoodie especially is worn by participants, so they wanted the society logo shown with more finish than a plain print. The choice that decided it: print or embroidery.

Q1.Hoodie logo: which is better, print or embroidery?
For apparel you'll wear for a long time, we recommend embroidery. Print is free in expression and lower in cost, but it can crack or peel with repeated washing. Embroidery is stitched thread by thread, bringing dimension and a premium texture, and the logo holds up long after washing.
The Decipher hoodie's front logo was finished with embroidery, making it merch they can keep wearing in daily life after the event.

Q2.So is embroidery always the answer?
No. Embroidery costs more and takes longer than print, and complex logos with many colors or fine gradients are hard to express in thread.
The simpler and cleaner the logo's lines, the better embroidery's strengths show. Conversely, depending on the logo shape, print is clearly the better choice in some cases. Looking at the design and deciding which fits first is what matters.
Q3.Can you do the hoodie, keyring, and sticker in one go?
Yes. Event merch often isn't just one apparel piece but includes lighter giveaway items like keyrings and stickers. Decipher too ran 80 hoodies, 150 keyrings, and 150 stickers together as one event merch set.
Bundling everything in one place instead of splitting items across vendors makes it far easier to align schedule and tone.

Embroidering the hoodie logo definitely made it look more premium. Response from participants at the event was great, and getting the keyring and stickers in one go made event prep much easier.
The finished merch, on site at Difference
The three finished items were used on site at the Difference event. The embroidered hoodie raised the finish of the event merch a notch, and stayed merch that lasts long after the event ended. A case showing that the finish you choose decides a piece's lifespan.
